Plot Summary Of Sarvam Maya
Sarvam Maya is a story of a young man Prabhendu Namboothiri who was born into an orthodox family of Brahmin priests in Kerala. Though his family is religious, Prabhendu is an atheist who does not want to keep the traditions of the priest because he dreams to be a musician.
He goes back to his hometown of Palakkad disappointed by the rejection of his visa application to Europe, who does not know what to do with his life. Finding it hard to secure steady jobs, he momentarily aids his cousin Roopesh, who is also a priest who conducts religious ceremonies. Roopesh has an accident one day and requests Prabhendu to attend to his obligations. Although he does not believe in supernatural powers he reluctantly gives consent to carry out ritual exorcism on a young boy who is suspected to be possessed by a spirit. But, oddly enough, the ritual does seem to be effective.
Soon after that, however, bizarre events start happening. Prabhendu observes that there is something wrong with his phone and other online accounts, that some mysterious messages are appearing and some items someone is ordering online without his consent. One day, he finds himself waking up at night and finding a young woman operating his phone in his room. The woman is apologetic and goes away leaving him which puzzles and terrifies him Very soon he understands that she is the spirit that he made drive out in the exorcism. The woman presents herself as Delulu, when she is not aware of her true identity. Remarkably, other people cannot see her, as Prabhendu does. Nevertheless, the two slowly build a friendly relationship despite the strange situation.
Delulu starts to assist Prabhendu in practicing music, and Prabhendu wants to follow his dreams. As time passes their relationship becomes stronger and they become emotionally attached.
It however proves to be tricky when Prabhendu starts liking Saadhya, a music manager, who is attracted by his talent and introduces him to the music industry. In the meantime, Delulu gradually begins to recover bits and pieces of her missing memories. She remembers she was actually Maya Mathew Manjooran a young woman when she had an accident that could have killed her and therefore she remembered she had been travelling to meet the man she loved when the accident happened. The body was declared brain-dead and her soul was stuck between the life and death worlds. When Maya eventually remembers what has happened to her, she tells Prabhendu in a heartfelt moment of what she has remembered.
As soon as her tale is recognized and her recollections are recognized, her soul fades away. During the final scenes of the film, Prabhendu goes to the hometown of Maya and her poor mother. When he is questioned whether he was the man Maya loved, he takes some time before responding to yes in as much as they had the emotional attachment together. Prabhendu eventually realizes his dream of being a musician because of the memory of Maya.
